Before arriving in Buenos Aires and beginning my work here at Voluntario Global, I was recommended by a friend to stay at a particular party hostel. She urged me to stay as it’s a great way of meeting friends outside of the volunteer scheme and learning more about Buenos Aires as a whole, especially as I am staying in an apartment during my time here in Palermo. I did a little bit of research and here are the three top three social hostels to stay:

1. Milhouse Hostel Hipo OR Avenue

Personally, I stayed at Milhouse Hipo, which is the smaller of the two and is much cosier than Milhouse Avenue. Milhouse is renowned in Buenos Aires for “gringos” to go and stay, party and meet each other when they’re travelling. Both of the hostels are located approximately 5 minute walk from one another and are located just a few blocks from Plaza de Mayo. You are able to access both hostels with your wristband, both offering excursions, really friendly staff and just generally an awesome and crazy, time!

2. Petit Recoleta Hostel

This hostel is located in a 19th century house which brings a lot of beauty and character to the hostel. It consists of a social yet relaxed atmosphere, whether you are a solo traveller or with friends, the hostel will ensure you needs are met and you’re getting the most out of the city.

3. Hostel Estoril

If you are looking for a slightly different crowd from the one at either of the Milhouse Hostels, why not give Hostel Estoril a try. It is still extremely social and encourages the guests to interact without it being completely crazy. The hostel itself is relatively new and offer an ambient and chilled atmosphere.
