San Telmo Antique Market San Telmo Antique Market Voluntario Global

Every Sunday there is a street market in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of San Telmo. It stretches the entirety of Defensa street and is filled with a variety of vendors: clothes, food, jewelry, souvenirs, art, pottery, you name it, they have it.

It is a great place to stroll through with friends and family, or walk alone, and no matter how many times you go, it never gets tiring! I have been in Buenos Aires for four weeks, to the market twice, and plan to go again multiple more times within the month before I leave.

In addition to the great variety among the things being sold, the atmosphere is lively and exciting without being overwhelming. Walking down the street you hear dozens of different languages being spoken and see people from all over the world exploring and enjoying the market alongside of you. The vendors are also all so friendly; they are patient with language barriers and willing to let you try everything before buying it to make sure you truly love it.

Even if you are only in Buenos Aires for a weekend, this market is a must see. It has so much culture and personality, it is impossible not to love it.
